What is Leng Dei?

"Leng Dei" means Play with the Soil in Khmer. We are a social enterprise in Phnom Penh connecting people with soil, biodiversity, and environmental care.

Through food gardens, hands-on workshops, and a growing community of learners, we believe nature is the best teacher.

"The soil is the foundation of life. Everything that grows, grows from it."

Our 1,000m² educational food garden in the heart of Phnom Penh is a living classroom — open to everyone.

🍄 Why a mushroom?

Mushrooms are the 1% visible part of fungi. The other 99% — the mycelium — forms invisible underground networks connecting all living things. Care, connection, and community rooted beneath the surface.

What lives beneath our feet

Hover to discover the hidden heroes of every garden — the creatures that make soil alive.

Our Story

From a balcony kit to a living garden

At Leng Dei, we believe we are growing disconnected from the materiality of our needs and from the interconnected nature of all living beings. As a result, exploited and polluted lives are at the heart of our development choices.

Leng Dei aspires to bring more fun and life quality to environmental education — empowering people to connect with soil, biodiversity and environmental care.
